Cleaning Company Arrested for ID Theft

Nine Employees of Cleaning Company Arrested for ID Theft

According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, nine employees of a state-contracted cleaning company have been arrested for ID theft. The manager of the company was also arrested.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office say that they were tipped off about the alleged forgeries by an Arizona Department of Transportation employee. According to the employee, a worker with the Upright Commercial Cleaning company had tried to completely change his name on his ADOT building access card.

The Detectives then conducted their investigation at several of the Arizona Department of Transportation buildings, this was in the state Capitol complex in Phoenix. The detectives arrested nine people they suspected were involved with the forgery.

The Manager of the Cleaning Company admitted to knowing that the employees were actually using the fake identification documents. The manager is now facing a class 2 felony charge for trafficking in identity theft.

The MCSO said that the other nine suspects were in the U.S. illegally, however the manager is a U.S. citizen.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office got a Search Warrant

On Friday the MCSO detectives served the search warrant at the cleaning company’s office which was located on Thomas Road. During the search they found further documentation that proved the potential ID theft and forgery.

The investigating detectives also found that the company had 12 employees of the cleaning company that were possibly using the false ID’s to get jobs.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office say that the owners of the Upright Commercial Cleaning Company were very cooperative during the investigation and probably had no idea that the manager was doing this criminal activity.

All of the ten suspects were arrested and put into jail on Thursday night. According to the MCSO’s there have been over 782 suspects since 2008 that have been arrested for forgery and ID theft.
