Police Investigate Phoenix Homicide

Officer Involved Homicide Shooting

What? Another homicide in Phoenix? No way! Yup. Another one. This time it happened at an apartment complex.

The Phoenix Police Department are now going to have to investigate a police officer involved shooting that happened in downtown Phoenix.

According to the reports it happened close to First Avenue and Roosevelt Street. Police say that twenty-seven year old, Jonie Block is now wanted for a homicide that happened earlier in the day.

Sadly, fifty-five year old, Todd Landon was the one to lose his life when he was shot and killed. Landon was found with several gunshot wounds. According to people that knew Landon, he was a maintenance worker at the apartment complex and was well liked.

Friend Statement:

Todd was a very caring individual. He would always go out of his way to help you. He was a great person to know–caring, he loved people, he loved to interact with people as well. He’s going to be very missed. I hope he’s resting in peace now.

Landon’s work truck is sweetly covered in flowers to show love for their murdered friend.

According to the police Block was seen several hours after the first incident by a bystander at the Japanese Friendship Garden who had noticed that she was armed and then called the law enforcement.

Phoenix Shooter

Sometimes investigating a murder can be solved pretty quickly, I imagine. I’m not a police officer so I can’t say for sure anyways. Sometimes it can take years though and sometimes they never get solved.

A crime spree of any time can be pretty darn scary, a killing spree is terrifying! Phoenix had an unnerving experience recently when a crime spree that ended nine people’s lives and stumped the police for a few months.

Luckily, on a  Monday the police in Arizona announced that they had arrested the twenty-three year old man that had became known as the “Serial Street Shooter Case”.

Jeri L. Williams is the Phoenix Police Chief told the local news that they had linked the shootings to Aaron Saucedo. The young man had been in custody since his arrest on April 19th.

Cheif Williams said that he was rebooked on Monday into Maricopa County Jail on the 26th for additional felony counts, which include: eight of homicide, three of attempted homicide, and several drive by shooting and aggravated assault. Talk about about a busy kid.

Chief William’s Statement:

This case plagued our community for more than a year, as the mayor mentioned to you, and left behind a trail of victims that included mothers, sons, brothers, sisters and families still mourning the loss of their loved ones.

The City, County, and Federal Law Enforcement have all put in a ton of hours investigating this case. They’ve had thousands of tips leading to Saucedo’s arrest.

The shootings have happened for months, heck YEARS and the police still have no clue as to why he would do this.

U.S. Marshal, David Gonzales’ Statement:

It’s been said that a serial killer is like a chameleon, and that’s what made this case so frustrating.

Luckily, the court has a pretty huge case against this guy, He probably will spend a good amount of time behind bars. However, he is extremely young, there’s always a way around actual time served. Let’s hope he does serve his time because no one deserves to lose their life for  no reason, this kid just wanted to shoot someone? He need mental help and he needs to stay away from society for a very long time.

Homicide Defense Strategy

Sexual Assault Crimes

Man Sexually Abuses Young Women

How can sex offenders go under the radar for so long? Does neighbors or someone not find them suspicious? Maybe not. However, in some cases people do notice and they call the authorities.

A man has allegedly been sexually abusing a group of underage girls in Coolidge over a twenty year period. The witnesses have luckily began testifying in the trial for their attacker.

The suspect, Robert Molina’s victims said that the fifty-eight year old man would molest her when she was only twelve years old.

Another witness said that she woke up on night to find Molina fondling her. There will be seven brave young women testifying against Molina. The crimes started in the 1990’s.

Molina has been charged with six counts of child molestation as well as three counts of sexual conduct with a minor and three counts of sexual abuse.

The charges have been classified as, “dangerous crimes against children”. Luckily those cases usually have stricter and tougher penalties.

Police Arrest Sexual Assault Suspect

The prosecutor for this case, David Ahl said that Molina used his hand to sexually gratify himself and to repeatedly violate his victims. He did however, accuse the defendant saying that he put his hands down the children’s pants to touch them inappropriately while they slept.

Opening arguments got straight to the point, the prosecutors told the jury not to believe any suggestions that the victims were working as a “conspiracy”.

There was another witness to testify, she didn’t immediately report the abuse due to the fact that she was scared and embarrassed which isn’t uncommon for a case like this.

Molina has pleaded not guilty to all of the other charges. They’re claiming that the stories don’t “corroborate” with one another. He thinks that there is reasonable doubt involved.

I have a feeling this will not be a long trial. There’s too many witnesses against this man and evidence. However, with the right defense lawyer anything can happen.

Foul Play Homicide Case

Horseplay turned to homicide charges when a pedestrian was killed Thursday night after being pushed into the road and hit by a vehicle, Phoenix police said.

The incident occurred just before 7 p.m. near Dunlap and 19th avenues, according to Sgt. Alan Pfohl with the Phoenix Police Department.

Pfohl said 23-year-old Terrance Veale was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

After further investigation, officials said they determined Veale and Tyrone David Turner were on the sidewalk engaging in horseplay.

Turner, 26, told police he pushed Veale, Pfohl said. Veale stumbled into the road and was hit by a vehicle.

Turner was arrested on suspicion of negligent homicide.

No other details were immediately available. The investigation is ongoing

According to the reports, the Police and firefighters were called to an address near 67th Avenue and Baseline Road. This happened around 1:45 p.m. for a report of a possible drive by shooting.

According to the Phoenix Fire Department spokesman, the other teen also has wounds. The teen has wounds to his arms and legs and is more stable. He has also been taken to an area hospital.

Officers located a suspect vehicle fleeing the scene. The police were able to detain four people who they think are involved in the incident.

Homicide Cases All Throughout Phoenix

Fatal Phoenix Shootings

Crime is growing extremely fast. Instead of getting better and growing together, the country keeps getting more and more divided. While some hoped that President Trump’s presidential victory would bring the nation together for better American jobs, less crime, and less illegals it’s also brought a huge segregation against the people of the world.

In Phoenix, a one man crime spree caused havoc on Sunday night. There were two shootings, which ended in death. There was two other shootings, a pair of carjackings, a car chase as well as a self inflicted fatal gunshot wound.

James Holmes who is a Phoenix Police officer said that the Monday investigators had not came up with a motive and that the shooting seemed to be random violence. It occurred at a Motel 6 near Interstate 17  and Northern Avenue.

The suspect was identified as twenty-eight year old, Daterryn McBride. He had to be hospitalized for a gunshot wound and he later died. According to the reports, he had a criminal history.

McBride had shot and killed forty-four year old, Brian Harris as well as forty-four year old, Robert Sykes. He shot them around 10:30 p.m.  There was a clerk that was also shot and is in critical condition.

Phoenix Police Search for Suspect

McBride fled the scene on foot, but not before he shot two people who were just sitting in a pickup truck in a parking lot. The two people were able to drive to a nearby convenience store at 27th and Northern Avenues and were able to get a hold of the police. The pair was treated at the scene.

According to the report, McBride ran into an apartment complex near 27th and Northern avenues. During his flee, he took a man hostage and stole his car as the man’s wife and infant watched. McBride then fled down I-17.

Holmes Statement:

That man got in the car, allowing himself to be kidnapped and wasn’t shot. I can’t imagine the terror he felt.

The car then broke down and McBride left it and then carjacked another victim. He then crashed that car near 16th Street and University Drive in Phoenix.

Police say that McBride then got out of the car and ran into a nearby field. Once in the field, he shot himself.

Phoenix Shooting Homicide Cases

Father Tries to Kills Son in Shooting Incident

Phoenix Police are constantly busy with shooting cases. This time one happened near 52nd Street and Bell Road.

The reports say that the police said that the dispute happened between a father and his adult son. How sad is that? Police say that the eighty-one year old father, Michael Zukoski  sadly shot his own son in the back and then shot himself.

According to reports, the officers arrived on the scene of the heartbreaking scene at around 7:35 a.m. that is when they found the son, a forty-nine year old male who had been wounded with a gunshot wound. They were able to get him to the hospital, where is still in serious condition.

The father, Zukoski, was also found at the scene by officers. He was found with an apparent “self-inflicted” gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Family Killed in Shooting Incident

When you think of family you usually think of happy, loving togetherness. However, that’s not always the case. Sadly, one family got the surprise that no one would ever want.

Five family members are sadly dead after the son, opened fire at their house. The house was located near 51st Avenue and Cactus Road. According to the Phoenix Police, the son was killed by officers.

Police said that a man and woman were sadly found already dead at the scene. There were also two girls found. One in her teens and then a six year old little girl. The six year old had to be transported to a local hospital for treatment. Luckily both girls were expected to make a recovery.

According to the reports, the police had to fatally shoot the shooter after a confrontation inside of the home.

Phoenix Police Sgt. Trent Crump said that the man and woman who died were the shooter’s parents, Vic and Kimberly Buckner. The girls were Kaitlin and Emma. The shooter was later identified as twenty-six year old, Alex Buckner.

At first Crump said that the shooter had killed himself but later confirmed that the shooter was actually killed by the police officers.

Crump’s Statement:

I’m not sure if it was an exchange of fire, but that ended the confrontation.

The neighbors had to be interviewed by the local police after the shootings were reported and hearing an argument just thirty minutes before the police were called to the house.

One of the people that were injured were one of the ones who called 911 just before 5 a.m. The caller said that a family member was firing at the other family members.

Phoenix Homicide

Police Investigate Phoenix Homicide

The Phoenix police are now investigating a double homicide. This happened on Wednesday after two people were found shot to death. They were found near the bleachers on a baseball field at the El Prado Park in south Phoenix.

The victims were reportedly a twenty-eight year old man and a twenty-three year old woman. According to Sgt. Alan Pfohl of the Phoenix Police Department, their identities haven’t been released at this time due to notifying their families.

According to the police, they think that the victims died overnight. the bodies were found by a passer-by around six o’clock in the morning. The person notified a park employee who called the police.

Shooting in Phoenix

Police had to arrest a man on Sunday for his involvement in a shooting of another man at an apartment complex in Phoenix. The shooting was reported around 6:20 p.m. on Saturday. The shooting happened at an apartment complex near 19th and Northern Avenues.

According reports, when the officers got to the scene the saw a forty-nine year old man. He was already dead and it was due to a gunshot wound.

Police said that on Sunday the police were able to locate and arrest a suspect, thirty-four year old, Markus Miller.

The victim was identified as Terrance Hodge.

Man’s Body Found in Phoenix

A man’s body was found on Thursday morning. This was in Encanto Park which is in Phoenix as well. Not a good time to be in Phoenix.

The police are investigating this as a homicide case.

The man was only known as “Richard”. He was found dead around 10:15 in the late morning at the park.

Couple Arrested for Homicide

There’s a lot of fun things to do as a couple, however murder isn’t one of them!

A married couple has recently been arrested for their involvement in a homicide case. This was after a body was found at an east Phoenix home. The woman told the police that her husband had killed the victim with a baseball bat last month.  Waited a little long to tell the police didn’t she?

The Phoenix Police said that thirty-two year old, Leviticus Najar and his thirty-five year old wife, Metika Najar were booked into jail for suspicion of abandonment of a dead body.

The victim hasn’t been identified at this time.

The police did said that the body was found inside of a concealed location inside of the home. Apparently the Najar’s had been renting the home since 2005.

Homicide

Apparently the body was only found after the actual owner of the home was doing some repairs on the home’s flooring and accidently found a six foot tool box wrapped in plastic. The tool box had a foul odor coming from it so he called the police.

The police cut through 12 layers of wrapping and found a human skull, wrapped in duct tape.

Metika told the police that she and her husband had let a man as well as his brother stay at the home from time to time over the past three months.

She went on to say that she saw her husband go into a room and hear a noise like ” a bat hit a bicycle three times”. She said that she thought her husband had hit the victim because he had been making romantic advances towards her.

Metika said her husband had put the dead body in their backyard woodshed and wrapped it in a tarp then she never saw it again. She also told the police that she had burned the mattress where the man was killed in July in hopes to protect her husband.

Phoenix Manslaughter Lawyer

At the Phoenix based Offices of Criminal Defense Lawyers PLLC, we have defended many clients charged with a violent crime, including murder charges and other high-level violent crimes. We can provide the strong defense you need if you have been charged with voluntary manslaughter or involuntary manslaughter.

If you discovered your spouse in bed with a lover and as a result killed your spouse in a sudden rage, you may have been charged with first-degree murder. However, you may only be guilty of voluntary manslaughter, an offense that carries a maximum prison sentence of 11 years, as opposed to a life sentence.

Manslaughter is defined as the unlawful killing of a human being without malice. The term malice is used in a highly technical sense and does not simply imply a feeling of anger.

Types of Manslaughter Defenses

If you have been charged with murder and the evidence is stacked against you to show that you did unlawfully kill another person, seeking a conviction to the lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter may make a significant difference in your case.

To effectively raise such a defense, you must be able to establish that you were provoked, that a reasonable person in such a situation might be similarly provoked to kill, and that you did not have sufficient time to cool off and further contemplate your actions. If retained as your counsel, we will thoroughly investigate the facts of your case to determine which defense strategy gives you the best opportunity to protect your freedom.

Types of Manslaughter Cases in Phoenix

In the state of Arizona, you may be charged with involuntary manslaughter under two separate circumstances:

  • If you committed a crime (other than a felony) and unintentionally caused the

death of another person.

  • If you were engaged in a lawful act that might cause death and acted without

“due caution and circumspection.”

Manslaughter Conviction and Sentencing

A conviction for involuntary manslaughter carries a maximum sentence of four years imprisonment. If you caused the unintentional death of another person and you were not committing a crime, it is not sufficient for the prosecution to allege that you made a mistake. The phrase “without due cause and circumspection” implies something more than a simple mistake. Our Phoenix Attorneys can raise a number of issues and defenses on your behalf to raise the strong defense you need. A plea to a lesser offense or a plea that allows you to avoid a criminal conviction may be possible depending on the facts of your case. If you choose to fight your charges at trial, we have the skilled trial lawyers to aggressively defend your rights in the courtroom.
