Phoenix Robbery Incidents

Robbery Suspects Evidence

Three robbers have been caught on camera in a bold hold-up at an office related to a medical marijuana dispensary.

The video is so clear that someone out there has to know who they are.

The victims said it happened around 5 p.m. Wednesday  at an office building in Phoenix.

They work for a medical marijuana dispensary, but that is not where the robbery took place.

The incredible video shows two women and a man storm into the office, with guns drawn.

They ordered the two male victims to the floor, where they proceeded to tie them up.

The robbers demanded money, while holding guns to the victims’ heads, threatening to shoot if they didn’t cooperate.

Robbery Victim’s Statement:

They were telling me, don’t move, they were going to kill me, they were going to cut my fingers off. They were going to come back and kill our families. There was an incident where I believe the trigger was pulled. It might have been on me. I believe it was on my boss. I was face down, I couldn’t tell. But, I know that the trigger was pulled at one point. And, either the gun jammed or it wasn’t loaded. I’m not exactly sure. There was another incident, later on, where the female fires a round into the wall by accident. And, I think that’s what spooked them and the noise made them rush out of there. And, I think that’s what saved our lives.

That victim said the robbers made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, which they stashed in a suitcase.

And, they escaped in a primer-black looking Chevy pickup truck with a red bed liner.

One of the victims managed to break free after the robbers left the room and actually fired several shots at the truck.

A $2,500 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.

If you recognize the robbers, call the Phoenix Police Department.

Phoenix Homeowner Protects Themselves

When someone breaks into your home, your first instinct is to of course protect your self and your family. One Phoenix homeowner definitely surprised one burglar. This particular homeowner grabbed a sword and used it to injure and then detain a robbery suspect. Pretty awesome or a little bit of an overkill? Personally I think it’s awesome.

The Phoenix Police reported that on back on February 17th two men entered into an apartment near 17th and Buckeye Road. They then assaulted the homeowner. The victim told the police that the two men “ransacked” his apartment and stole several of his items. One of those items was a sixty inch flat screen television. Which aren’t cheap!

Robbery Suspects

When the suspects went outside the homeowner bravely rushed to his bedroom and grabbed a sword. He then went outside so that the two cowardly men couldn’t get away. You go mister!

The Police say that the victim was able to see the suspects loading the tv onto a vehicle. These suspects weren’t at their prime in life, which probably helped the victim, one suspect is sixty-five year old, Larry Shedd. Shedd reportedly came after the victim so he struck Shedd on the head with the sword. However, he was unsuccessful at detaining the other suspect and the driver of the getaway car. Not bad though for someone who just got robbed and ganged up on.

Maybe now, they’ll think twice before jumping people and trying to cowardly rob someone. Doubtful but it’s worth a shot.

Phoenix Robberies on the Rise

Phoenix Robberies Suspect Arrested

So, in 2017 when you think of a robbery suspect you don’t really think of an old timey alias name. However, it still happens apparently.

Recently a robbery suspect has been dubbed as the “Barrel Chested Bandit”. Talk about something out of a “Gunsmoke” Western. Anyways, the “Barrel Chested Bandit” is wanted for holdups in Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona has finally been arrested. This news came from the FBI office in Dallas.

According to the FBI agents, they arrested fifty year old, Anthony James Lane in Tuscon, Arizona on Tuesday. The name “Barrel Chested Bandit” is kind of a let down, totally though that was a badbutt female name. Kind of like a Annie Oakley or something, apparently not.

Lane was a busy man and wanted for several robberies or attempted robberies at eight different banks ranging from Tuscon, Albuquerque to Amarillo and Longview.

According to the FBI press release, he got his name by brandishing a small handgun in each of the robberies. He would order the teller to give him the money and then flee on foot.

Earlier this month the FBI said that they had offered a $10,000 reward for tips leading to the “Barrel Chested Bandit” arrest. Now he will face a federal bank robbery charge in Arizona.

Phoenix Police Suspect Shooting

Circle K seems to be a popular place to have a shooting in Phoenix because yet another shooting has taken place. According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department they have identified a man that the deputies fatally shot outside of the Circle K on Sunday, as twenty-six year old, Manuel Encinas.

The Deputies responded to an armed robbery call at a local Circle K convenience store. According to the Sheriff’s Department spokesman, the incident happened around two o’clock in the morning when they saw Encinas standing behind the Circle K employee.

The man was holding a gun, forcing the employee out of the store. After they left the store the employee ran or his or her life toward a deputy that was standing south of the building.

During that time, the deputies were able to get a clean shot and were able to shoot and kill Encinas after he had “presented a gun”.

According to further investigation that Encinas was also connected to a previous Tucson homicide so it looks like he will be spending some time in jail. While no further details were given on that situation, this shooting is still being investigated.

Criminal Defense Cases

Formerly referred to as terroristic threats, the crime of criminal threats may be charged as a misdemeanor or a felony offense, depending on case specifics. A criminal threat occurs when an individual threatens to kill or injure another person and that person has a reasonably sustained fear for his or her safety, or the safety of his or her immediate family. A defendant may potentially be convicted of making criminal threats even if he or she did not intend to carry out the threat, provided that the alleged victim had a reasonable basis to fear for his or her safety.

Arrest in Phoenix for Criminal Threats

If you have been arrested for making a criminal threat, it is critical that you protect your rights by retaining an experienced criminal defense attorney. For a vigorous defense, contact the Law Offices of Criminal Defense Lawyers PLLC immediately.

Arizona prosecutors have considerable discretion to charge criminal threats offenses as a misdemeanor or a felony. If you are convicted of a misdemeanor criminal threat, harassment or stalking offense, you could face up to one year in county jail. If you are convicted of a felony criminal threats offense, you could face up to four years in state prison. You could face significantly greater penalties if you used a firearm or other dangerous weapon while making criminal threats.

Types of Criminal Threats

A Criminal Threat is a strike offense, which means that you could face significantly enhanced penalties if you are convicted of a future felony. Even a nonviolent felony could result in twice the prison sentence if you have a prior strike offense. A third strike could result in a prison sentence of 25 years to life.

Criminal Threats Defensive Strategy

There are many ways that our skilled Phoenix Defense Attorneys can raise a strong defense on your behalf. First, we will examine the facts of the case to determine if the prosecution has enough evidence to obtain a conviction. In particular, we will look at any evidence of the alleged communication. Does the prosecution have copies of an email or voicemail? If the state has nothing more than a he-said-she said case, the prosecution will have a tougher time proving its case.

Taking Your Criminal Threats Case to Trial

Even if the prosecution has evidence of the alleged communication, we will examine the nature of the communication. Was the threat a serious one? In other words, did the alleged victim actually fear for his or her safety and was he or she reasonable to have such fear? The prosecution does not have to prove that you intended to carry out the threat, or even that you had the current ability to carry out the threat. However, the prosecution must establish that the threat you made is the type that would have caused the defendant to have a reasonable fear.

If you choose to take your case to trial, we offer skilled Phoenix trial lawyers who will aggressively defend your rights in the courtroom. If you do not want to fight your charges at trial, we can negotiate with the prosecution to seek a favorable plea agreement. Depending on the facts of your case, we may be able to help you keep this off of your record. If that is not possible, we can seek a plea to a lesser offense, including a non-strike offense, or we can seek an agreement on sentencing that will limit the penalties you face. With a team of former prosecutors, the skilled attorneys at the Phoenix Offices of Criminal Defense Lawyers PLLC are highly adept at finding creative solutions for their clients.

Police Searching for Two Female Robbery Suspects

Police Search for Female Suspects Associated with Stealing Money

Police have been searching for two female suspects who were suspected of stealing thousands of dollars from an eighty-one year old woman in Phoenix. According to Silent Witness, the two females had approached the eighty-one year old victim inside of the Costco store at the Christown Spectrum Mall. The Christown Mall is located near 16th and Montebello avenues.

The two females had reportedly convinced the elderly victim to “invest” $30,000 in order to split a larger sum of the money with them.

Female Suspects Con Elderly Woman

The suspects had the elderly woman drive to two different banks in the area to withdraw the money. During the first withdraw, they had her take out $15,000 in cash. At the second bank, a teller at the bank recognized the woman and was able to convince her to not withdraw the money and to re-deposit the first amount. However, the elderly woman didn’t get lucky. When she got back to the vehicle, both of the female suspects had taken off along with the money.

The description of the first suspect is a forty-five year old black woman. She’s around five foot, six inches talls. She weighs approximately one hundred and fifty pounds. She also had short, black hair.

Robberies Near Phoenix

Police Investigate Robberies

Phoenix has seen a string of Home invasion robberies. Especially since May of 2017. The scary part of that is, these home invasions are sometimes linked to human trafficking. Not all of them of course, but a large number of them are.

The Baltimore County Police have charged three men for their involvement in a May 18th home invasion robbery. This happened in the Phoenix area.

According to the reports, twenty year old, Anthony Denicolis was charged with armed robbery for the robber in the 12400 block of Wolbert Way. He was also charged with Burglary, first degree assault, animal cruelty, and two counts of second degree assault.

Two other men were also charged, nineteen year old, Ronald Joseph Horvitz Jr and nineteen year old, Richard Peter Jaffray III with armed robbery and first degree assault. Not a great way to start adulthood.

Police say that the men entered the home of Mark and Renee Greene which around four o’clock in the morning and killed the family’s dog. The dog was a tiny little Shih Tzu and was killed with a baseball bat. According to the reports, they approached forty-two year old Mark Greene who was sleeping on the couch at the time. They wielded a kitchen knife at him.

According to Cpl. Vickie Warehime who is a police spokeswoman, they awakened thirty-three year old, Renee Greene who was asleep upstairs. They then forced her downstairs. She luckily was able to escape and made it to a neighbors house and was able to call 911.

Family Dollar Robbery

When you think of Family Dollar, you think of family friendly store. If you think of robbing a family store you must be pretty darn low in life.

Police are now looking for a man that’s apparently reached that point in life. He’s recently robbed a Valley Family Dollar store.

Phoenix police say that a robbery recently happened near, 16th Street and McDowell. This happened on June 17th. The suspect walked up to the cashier’s counter to pay for an item, however when the clerk tried to put the money into the register the suspect reached over the counter and stole the cash tray.

Police say the suspect is described as a male, Black or Hispanic man. He’s around twenty years old. He’s around 5’11 and weighs around 200 pounds.

Hopefully they find this man who prays on a story that strives to help low income families. Why would they want to take from the people that already have the least?

Circle K Robbery

Another robbery happened in Phoenix.  Silent Witness need the public’s help finding the suspect though. The male suspect casually walked out of a Phoenix Circle K with the cash drawer.

On May 17th just after 8 in the evening, police say that a Hispanic man had entered the Circle K near Broadway Road and Central Avenue.

The man then walked behind the counter after the clerk refused to sell him cigarettes. He then told the clerk to open the register and ended up taking the entire cash drawer. Greedy and rude.

You could see from the surveillance video that the suspect walked out of the store with the drawer. The suspect was last seen going west on Broadway Road.

The man was described as a five foot, six inch tall man. He weighed around 135 pounds, so very slender built. He was last seen wearing a green jacket and blue jeans. He was wearing a white Diamondbacks hat.

Criminal Shooting At Best Buy

Scary Criminal Best Buy Shooting

According to reports, there was a deadly shooting at Best Buy in Avondale. The criminal from the shooting has died.

The Avondale police said that, twenty-seven year old, Henry Cota Jr. passed away from his injuries on Tuesday.

The police will continue to investigate the double shooting at the Avondale shopping center which happened on Monday.

The reports say that the call came around noon and it was for the Best Buy off of Interstate 10 which is near 99th Avenue and McDowell Road.

The Avondale Police Department showed up at the Best Buy and there was one man and one woman injured inside of the store, both from gunshot wounds. Both of those victims were transferred to hospitals.

The woman died from her wounds on Monday.

Best Buy said that the woman who passed away was actually one of the store’s Team Members. She was only twenty-six years old and her name was Melissa Mendez.

According to the investigation, there seems to be a history of domestic violence between Cota and Melissa. Cota has actually been outside of Melissa’s house waiting for her before. He was apparently very violent and stalkers with her.

Cota and Melissa have two children together. Apparently they had reconciled and tried to co-parent together for their children, however there was an “instability” in the home. This was in 2015 court records.

Present day, Melissa had moved on and Cota wasn’t taking it well.

Best Buy released a statement to ABC15 which read:

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends, and children of Melissa Mendez after she was senselessly shot and killed on Monday. Domestic violence has no place in our society, and this tragic event is an example of how destructive it can be. Melissa, an employee at our Avondale store for more than seven years, was well-liked by her colleagues and great at her job. Counseling has been made available for our employees. Our Avondale store remains closed at this time.”

Chili’s is a pretty popular restaurant. It’s great for family night or game time. The Phoenix Police have arrested a man who was in connection with the Chili’s which is on N North Valley Parkway on Sunday. The suspect, Jerry Krach was charged with Armed Robbery and Aggravated Assault.

Robberies in Phoenix

The police say that the man had entered the restaurant which is located at, 34710 N North Valley Parkway around 8 in the evening. The man was wearing a mask and was armed with a shotgun. Police say that there were almost thirty people inside of the building as he shot into the ceiling then demanded money.

The man oddly fled the scene on an ATV.  Probably not the best getaway vehicle.

Later, the suspect was seen near 33rd Lane and Via Del Deserto. There he reportedly pointed a shotgun at someone else. A little gun happy that day apparently.

Not long later, the police answered a prowler call. The call came from a mobile home park which was on Black Canyon Highway.

There, a suspect which matched the description of the chili’s shooter. He was detained and identified as Krach.

Police then say he actually admitted to his involvement at the time of the arrest.
