Phoenix Woman Accused of Abusing Her Son

Woman Accused of Abusing Her Two Year Old Son

When you have a child, most people want to protect them and keep them from harm. How a woman could abuse her own son is beyond me. I can’t understand how anyone would harm a child, let alone your own flesh and blood.

A woman from Phoenix has now been accused of abusing her two year old son. She has pleaded no contest to the child abuse or the sexual misconduct with a minor charge. Seriously? That poor baby. You wouldn’t think a mother could do that to her own son. You usually have to worry about predators outside of the house, not in.

Woman Being Sentenced for Abusing Her Son

The Maricopa County prosecutors say that the mother, Rickesha Jovani Burns, twenty-two years old, has entered her plea on Friday. Burns is set to be sentenced on December Third of this year.

The Phoenix Police were called to the home in March 24, 2013. They found the suspect, Rickesha Burns holding her young son. The police say that the little boy was crying and bleeding. They immediately transported her son to the hospital in Phoenix. Burns told the police that her young son had been playing with a twelve year old little boy at the park that day. She claims the twelve year old had done something to her son.

The doctors said that her son had injuries around his rectal area, he even had to have surgery to remove a foreign object. That literally had me crying writing that. Who would be so sick to do that to anyone, let alone a little baby. I hope they find justice for this poor child.  Phoenix Police say that the didn’t find any evidence that a child had assaulted her son at the park.

Mother Facing Child Charges for Stabbing Her Children

Mother Arrested for Stabbing Both of Her Children

According to the police, a Valley area mother is now going to face child abuse charges after stabbing both of her children. How could anyone do that?

The court documents showed that Brenda Begay had called 911 on Monday. She claimed that both of her kids were dying.  When the police got to the scene at 13th Avenue and Ironwood Drive, what they found was heart breaking. They found a twelve year old girl with a stab wound to her chest.

The Phoenix Police investigators say that the young girl woke up to her mother stabbing her. The little girl then told the officers that she ran to her older, (thirteen year old) brother’s room and found that he was lying on the floor. Police say that Begay’s son also had multiple stab wounds to the chest and on his wrist.

Neighbor, Jesus Gamez, Statement about the Stabbing

Why would a parent do that to their own child? I want to know what her state of mind was during that time.

I doubt you would really want to know what the heck someone was thinking when they murder or attempt to murder someone. Those poor children.

The court documents also show that Begay actually admitted to the police that she had wanted her kids to die. She was “trying to protect them” from getting raped. The documents also suggest that Begay might be in-stable.

This wasn’t Begay’s first run in with the Department of Child Safety. She has prior cases with them, she was convicted in 2005 in a child abuse case. During the trial, the courts questioned Begay’s mental state. They conducted an evaluation and gave her some medication.  Begay has severed six months in jail and fifteen years probation.

Babysitter Arrested for Suspicion of Child Abuse

Babysitter Arrested for Three Counts of Child Abuse

When you ask someone to babysit your children you would expect them to be well taken care of. However, now days it’s pretty hard to tell who is really going to be watching your children and what will happen while they are under someone else’s care. A thirty-nine year old babysitter has been arrested by the Tempe police on the suspicion of three counts of child abuse. There is an ongoing investigation following the death of a fourteen month old little boy. The baby had a broken arm as well as some other injuries, according to the police authorities.

The suspect in this child abuse case is Robert Reynolds. Robert happens to be the boyfriend of the baby’s mother, According to Lt. Mike Pooley from the Tempe Police. The mother left her fourteen month old son, Juantio Valenzuela with Robert on Sunday morning as she left for work that day. Lt. Pooley would not release the mother’s name at this time however he did say that she was a maid at a local motel.

Lt. Pooley’s Statment about the Child Abuse Case

The baby had obvious signs of trauma to his head and body to include a fractured arm.

According to the Tempe police, they had responded to a 911 call at around 5 o’clock in the evening. The call was for a baby that had not been breathing and was located in a mobile home in the 1600 block of East Apache Boulevard. They quickly took the baby to the hospital, however the baby was pronounced dead.

Lt. Pooley stated that Robert was caring for two other young children of his own at the time. Robert is said to have been living with the children in the mobile home. There is no reason to believe that Robert’s own children were abused at this time.  Robert at first told the baby’s mother that he had fell and hit his head earlier that morning… when the baby was found unresponsive that afternoon, he then called his aunt for her help, however according to the police Robert did not want to call the police or fire departments for help.

The actual cause of the young child’s death is still unknown at this time. It’s being investigated while they are waiting for the report from the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office. Robert is wanted for a minor traffic warrant for driving on a suspended license.

Man Charged With Several Charges in Kidnapping 8 Yrs Old Girl

Man Arrested for Disappearance of 8 Year Old Little Girl

A man is in some serious trouble after being previously questioned in the disappearance of an eight year old little girl. The man has now been booked into the Mohave County Jail for the following charges: first-degree murder, kidnapping, as well as shoplifting. That poor little girl.

Chief Brian Williamson from the Bullhead City Police, confirmed that twenty-six year old Justin James Rector was indeed taken into custody for the above charges including the death of the eight year old Isabella Grogan-Cannella. The innocent little girl was reported missing last Tuesday. According to the local authorities, on Wednesday Isabella’s lifeless body was found in a shallow grave near her home. Rector was taken into custody on Thursday.

Family Friend Murders 8 Year Old Little Girl

According to chief Williamson, Rector was a family friend that had been visiting and staying with the family at their home for a few days. Isabella was last seen with Rector at around 11:30 on Monday night. She was seen by her ten year old sister with the boy. Isabella was reported missing around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

Chief Williamson also said that Rector had went to the local Walmart to shoplift some shoes, underwear, and a shirt to change into. Rector admitted to actually hiding his old outfit along the highway. Rector was first arrested for the shoplifting and then held in the jail so that the investigators could look into Isabella’s disappearance. The detectives were able to find the shoes and shirt, as well as the surveillance video from the store which showed the evidence of Rector shoplifting. Rector had at first told the investigators that he had gone to a friends house after leaving Isabella’s home, however they were unable to confirm that. The investigators did find a set of show prints at the site where Isabella’s body was found. The shoe prints did match Rector’s old shoes.

The court documents read that Isabella was found in the same shirt she was wearing when she went missing, however she was found not wearing anything on her lower half. They are going to preform an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Rector didn’t deny killing the 8 year old Isabella, he did say he couldn’t talk about it and wanted an attorney.

According to the investigators, they aren’t sure of a motive for the girl’s murder. The investigation is ongoing at this time and police are unsure of future charges or arrests at this time. There were several other people at the house when Isabella disappeared.  Child Protective Services are also involved, but it is unsure what for at this time.

Sexual Assault Complaint Filed with Boy Scouts of America

Sexual Assault Complaint 30 Years in the Making

Almost thirty years ago a complaint was filed with Boy Scouts of America however it took a comprehensive review from the National Scout leaders in October 2013. They needed to rediscover the allegations against William Challberg, luckily for the complaint the sixty-five year old Phoenix man was arrested less than a year later for suspicion of molesting boys which was decades later.

The Phoenix investigators think that there might be more victims that have not came forward yet.

Challberg was arrest for more than two dozen of sex crime allegations. Some of these allegations took place in his Phoenix home and according to the police this was over a twenty year period.

According tot the court documents, Challberg abused his trusted position as a scout leader. The documents also give detail the “drug and alcohol fueled encounters” that Challberg had with his victims.

Fifty-one year old, Julian Mendoza was Challberg’s roommate. Mendoza has also been arrested on more than a dozen allegations that also involved crimes against children.

According to the Police records, Challberg was thirty-five years old when he began to commit the alleged offenses. Many of the crimes occurred at his home which is located near the 32nd Street and Campbell Avenue. Mendoza was twenty years old when he started.

According to the Court Records about the Sexual Assault Complaint

Phoenix police were contacted in October 2013 by the new risk-assessment supervisor of the Boy Scouts of America, who reported an incident of sexual abuse involving Challberg and one victim.

The police statement showed that the victim and his father had filed a written complaint with the Boy Scouts of America in 1986. However, the family did not file a separate complaint with the Police.

The victim is now forty-five years old. He told the police investigators that he had met Challberg at the Boy Scouts conference in New Jersey this was in 1983.

Challberg has Many Sexual Victims

The brave victim told the police that Challberg had molested him when he was only fourteen years old while they were at a Boy Scouts activity in Phoenix. The same day Challberg then took the victim to his home and showed the boy some pornographic movies and then engaged in sexual activity in front of the young male.

Challberg was a bus driver for Veolia Transportation at the time that the victim claimed that Challberg had engaged in sexual conduct with him inside of the bus in Phoenix.

According to the court records, Challberg also asked the young boy to bring other boys to his house. The victim did what he was asked and brought a friend to Challberg’s home, he later learned that, that friend died of AIDS as an adult. Challberg also sent the victim a letter asking him to get checked for AIDS.

The last time that Challberg sexually abused the boy was when he was sixteen years old. This time Challberg forcefully engaged in sexual activity with the boy. After the police interview the victim, they were able to identify several other victims.

Another man came forth and told the police that he was only around 13-14 years old when he was at Challberg’s home. They were drinking beer and smoking marijuana when Challberg then molested him.

According to the court documents, the boy and Challberg had allegedly engaged in sexual conduct on multiple occasions. The second victim also said that Challberg had recorded him engaging in the sexual activity, then allowed him to watch the recording.

A third boy also came forth and told the police that Challberg would offer him beer or beer money in exchange for sexual conduct, according to the boy he would always decline. He also told the police that Challberg would invite him and the second boy to watch the pornographic material and then asked to videotape them.

There was also a fourth boy to come forth, he lived in the same neighborhood as Challberg. He said that Challberg would give him and his younger brother pornographic material. He also showed the fourth boy a home video of him engaging in the sexual conduct with a young male.

Challberg’s In Jail

Challberg is being held in prison without bond due to the nature of the charges.
